Dr. Shiva Pokhrel is a distinguished Marie Curie Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Mobile Computing at Deakin University’s School of Information Technology. He earned his PhD in ICT Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. Dr. Pokhrel’s extensive career includes a tenure as a research fellow at the University of Melbourne and a seven-year role as a Network Engineer.

His cutting-edge research spans semantic communication, federated learning, quantum machine learning, 6G, cloud computing, dynamics control, the Internet of Things, and cyber-physical systems. His innovative work finds practical applications in intelligent manufacturing, satellite networks, autonomous vehicles, and smart cities.

Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Pokhrel has served on the editorial boards of leading journals in his field. He has also played pivotal roles in organizing major IEEE/ACM conferences, including IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICC, and ACM MobiCom, where he has been Workshop Chair and Publicity Co-Chair. Dr. Pokhrel was honoured with the prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship, underscoring his significant contributions to the field of mobile computing and his dedication to pioneering technological advancements.

Beyond his academic and research achievements, Dr. Pokhrel is an active member of seven working groups within the Internet Society and was recently named an APNIC Fellow for 2024. Additionally, he serves as an Australian Government Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Ambassador, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing global internet standards and practices.
